Most COVID hospitalizations in Lexington are unvaccinated patients, experts say

The health department reported 2,444 new coronavirus cases from last Saturday-Tuesday. The number of positive tests is likely higher however due to the backlog of cases.

The seven-day rolling average in Fayette County is 746 new cases per day, according to the health department. One week ago the seven-day rolling average was at least 700, which was the highest it’s ever been throughout the entire pandemic.

The health department is still offering vaccine appointments to those who are seeking a vaccination. Same-day appointments can be scheduled every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Public Health Clinic on Newtown Pike.
