'Mortifying and humiliating': Nicki Minaj speaks out about altercation with Cardi B

Nicki Minaj is opening up about her altercation on Friday with Cardi B at a New York Fashion Week event.

Video footage captured at that evening’s Harper’s Bazaar Icons party during NYFW shows an altercation between the rappers, which reportedly began when Cardi B lunged at and threw a shoe at Minaj. The two have a history of “issues,” but Cardi B indicated in a social media post that the problem this time is that Cardi B thought Minaj had talked about her baby girl, 2-month-old Kulture.

Minaj addressed the incident on Monday’s episode of her new show on Apple’s Beats 1 radio. “You’re angry, and you’re sad, and I really. … This is not funny, and this is not about attacking. This is about ‘Get this woman some f***ing help!’ This woman is at the best stage in her career, and she’s out here throwing bottles and throwing shoes,” Minaj said. “Who the f*** is going to give her a f***ing intervention? Get the f*** outta here with this bulls***.”

“You put your hands on certain people you going [to] die. Period,” Minaj said. “And y’all sitting here making this s*** a joke? I’m not the b****es in the strip club and I’m not a b**** on a reality show. My money is very f***ing long too.”

Minaj described the entire episode as “mortifying and humiliating,” made worse by the fact that it happened in front of “upper-echelon people who have their lives together.” She added, “I was wearing an Alexandre Vauthier gown off the motherf***in’ runway, OK, and I could not believe how humiliating it all felt.”

Minaj dismissed the idea that she brought Cardi B’s child into the fray.

“Let me just on record having said, ‘I would never talk about anyone’s child or parenting — I don’t care about anyone’s parenting, I don’t give a s*** — it’s so crazy for me that people always need to make Onika the bad guy,” Minaj said, referring to her real first name.

On Saturday, Minaj hinted at her feelings on the subject when she liked a pair of tweets supporting her.

Cardi B also shared her side of what happened in a post — without any hints needed.

The “Barbie Dreams” rapper further alluded to her rocky relationship with Cardi B on Sunday, when she shared a video of herself riding in the back of a car as her song “Hard White” plays. The track is from Minaj’s fourth album, Queen, released just last month. Fans immediately speculated that “Hard White” is somewhat of a Cardi B diss track because of its lyrics about former strippers. “I ain’t never played a hoe position,” Minaj raps, apparently alluding to Cardi B, who has spoken about having worked as a stripper. “I ain’t ever have to strip to get the pole position. Hoes is dissin’? OK, these hoes is wishin’. You’re in no position to come for O’s position.”

Just in case listeners didn’t connect “Hard White” to the Cardi B altercation, Minaj added the hashtag #NYFW to her post.
