Morrissey Concert Stopped by Stage Crasher

A man appeared to strike the singer before being dragged off by security; nobody was hurt

Morrissey was attacked onstage by a concertgoer at Copley Symphony Hall in San Diego last night, TMZ reports. Morrissey was singing “Every Day Is Like Sunday” when a few concert attendees stormed the stage. Footage of the incident (below) shows that one man appeared to strike Morrissey before the singer exited the stage and the assailant was dragged away by security. Morrissey reportedly did not return to finish the performance.

Today, Morrissey’s manager released a statement on Facebook regarding the incident, claiming that “nobody tried to punch” the singer. He instead categorizes the fan in question as “certainly more aggressive in reaching out for him than most, so security had to do their job and subdue the fan.” His management claims that nobody was hurt or arrested.
