Mika Brzezinski is no fan of the right-wing critics who have verbally attacked survivors of the school shooting at Florida’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in recent days, offering sharp condemnation on “Morning Joe” Wednesday.

“The other side on this is showing such a lack of humanity, to not support these kids, no matter what your views are,” she said.

Brzezinski called out conservative writer Dinesh D’Souza, who took it on the chin yesterday for a tweet mocking survivors of the shooting who had advocated for stricter gun-control legislation.

“Dinesh D’Souza, you have been fighting so hard for free speech so you could write some of the most astounding things I have ever read in my life over the past few decades and yet you won’t give them a moment to use their voices?” she asked.

“That’s cruel hypocrisy and it’s wrong and this is where we’re at,” she continued. “These kids can’t even get our support universally at this time?”

Brzezinski’s co-host, Joe Scarborough, agreed and said the issue was a question of time, place and manner.

“Yes, you have a right to attack children who just a week ago were traumatized, but just, why do it?” said Scarborough.

Unlike previous mass shootings, the Valentine’s Day massacre in Parkland, Florida, has remained in the headlines as students at the school who survived the deadly assault have channeled their grief into political activism. That activism has raised growing protests from the mainstream right and the more conspiracy-minded internet fever swamps.

Earlier this week, the Gateway Pundit published a widely panned piece slamming Parkland high schooler David Hogg, insinuating that he had been coached about what to say on television and suggesting that his commentary was suspect because his father used to work for the FBI.

Gateway Pundit White House correspondent Lucian Wintrich defended the story to TheWrap and compared himself to Watergate reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein.
