In More Uplifting News, Joe Biden Has Adopted an Adorable Rescue Dog

The former VP has adopted a German shepherd named Major, and the Internet is loving it.

It can be easy to feel weighed down by the, say, eventful happenings that are perpetually brewing in both our nation’s capital and on a more global scale. But put that all aside—just for one moment—and allow yourself to end the week on a more uplifting note: This weekend, it was revealed that former Vice President Joe Biden adopted a rescue dog. The newest addition to the Biden family is a German shepherd named Major. Is there any news as good as dog news? Probably not.

As shared on the Delaware Humane Association’s Facebook page, Major was one of six puppies brought to the DHA after being exposed to “something toxic in their home.” After the association worked with a local veterinary emergency center, Major was given live-saving medical care, and then later fostered, and now adopted, by the Bidens. (There is hope left in the world!) In a series of photos, Biden is seen posing with DHA staff after making it official, adorably showing Major a photo of himself as a puppy, and then in a final video, walking out to bring his new four-legged friend home.

In a joint release, the Bidens, along with their other German shepherd, Champ, officially welcomed Major to the family. “We are so happy to welcome Major to the Biden family, and we are grateful to the Delaware Humane Association for their work in finding forever homes for Major and countless other animals,” they said.

It didn’t take long for the Twittersphere to collectively aww. One Twitter user pointed out the uncanny resemblance between Biden and Major. Others foreshadowed that the dog would become Biden’s emotional support should he decide to run in the 2020 election. Below, see more of the Internet’s cutest reactions.
