More sunshine this afternoon; storms for Memorial Day

Columbus, Ga (WRBL)- This morning seeing overcast skies but the clouds will begin to clear up by midday leaving fair weather clouds for this afternoon. Winds will also begin to ramp up this afternoon, gusting up to 15 mph this afternoon.

Memorial Day: A strong cold front will continue to move through the southeast bringing two rounds of storms tomorrow. The first will likely be late morning, and the second by late evening. There will be more sun in the afternoon, but storms will still be developing in the evening. There is a 2/5 risk for severe weather with this front, and our primary threats are damaging winds and small hail.

Work Week: Behind this front, readings will briefly reach into the 90s again on Tuesday. 80s will return for the remainder of the First Alert Forecast through next week. A shortwave will move through midweek that will bring more clouds Wednesday afternoon. Because of the uncertainty, we are holding off on adding rain into the forecast for now.

Next Weekend: A better chance for measurable rainfall move in at the end of this week and for the weekend. Showers and storms will be possible starting Saturday and will last through Monday.
