More sun for the rest of the weekend; trending hot for the start of May

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — For the remainder of the weekend we lose some of the cloud cover that was brought into the region for Saturday. Partly cloudy overnight with morning clouds for Sunday. Expect more sunshine in the forecast with temperatures climbing into the mid 80s.

Start of the week remains dry, warm and quiet as high pressure remains built in across the southeast; however, there will be enough energy to lift into the southeast by Tuesday that could bring a brush of a few showers into the area.

By midweek the ridge of high pressure holds firm letting temperatures climb into the 90s. Warm temperatures will stay into the forecast through Friday with upper 80s and low 90s.

Weak front tries to slide into the region Friday with a few showers and storms, but the ridge of high pressure keeps us mostly dry and warm heading into the weekend.
