More reports requested in ex-Delano PD chief’s arrest

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Prosecutors have requested more information after former Delano police Chief Mark DeRosia was arrested last month on suspicion of contacting a minor for sex.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office submitted its report to prosecutors on Wednesday, said DA’s Office spokeswoman Daniela Gonzaga. Additional reports were requested, she said.

Once received, a decision will be made on whether to file charges.

Sheriff’s officials said DeRosia, 68, contacted a detective in an online sting operation who was posing as a 15-year-old. Their conversation turned sexual, officials said, and a meeting was arranged.

Derosia was arrested March 26 in the area of Olive and Knudsen drives.
