HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — More pickleball courts are coming to north Mecklenburg County.

On Monday night, Huntersville commissioners approved as part of the consent agenda funding to add two pickleball courts at Holbrook Park. The vote moved $21,000 from the town’s Parks and Recreation capital reserve to the capital overlay for court construction.

Before the allocation, there was $103,510.99 in the capital reserve and $106,200.05 in the overlay account.

Members of the towns’ Parks and Recreation Commission unanimously recommended the action at their March 20 meeting.

The addition will increase the number of designated pickleball courts at Holbrook Park, adjacent to Huntersville Elementary, to eight. There are also four tennis courts, but one of them is being replaced by the pickleball courts.
