More parking options will soon be available near South Congress

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Parking spaces that “were previously off-limits near South Congress Avenue” will soon be available to the public, according to the City of Austin Transportation and Public Works Department.

In January, the city announced two payment options for street parking on South Congress, including its partnership with the Way.com app and Park ATX.

This is a way to “create more parking space turnover in a high-demand district,” the city said.

As the new parking spots soon become available, the city said drivers can download the Park ATX app “from trusted sources.” Furthermore, the city said several websites are pretending to be the city’s Park ATX paid parking app.

The official Park ATX app allows users to pay, extend and manage their on-street parking sessions from a mobile app. The app also allows users to extend their parking session if more time is needed or stop their session early.

The city said, “A portion of parking funds will go toward infrastructure improvements in the South Congress area.”

There are two daily codes Park ATX users have access to, which are good for 15-minute free parking: FREE15ATX1 and FREE15ATX2.
