More human remains being recovered in rural Sumner County

SUMNER COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) — The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office stated Monday evening that they are currently helping the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office recover more human remains in rural Sumner County.

The SCSO says the human remains are in the same vicinity as the human remains recovered on Friday, in the area of 300 N. River Rd. near Belle Plaine.

“The remains … are believed to be connected to an ongoing homicide investigation in Sedgwick County,” said the SCSO. “The victims of the homicide were last seen at a residence in the 9500 block of South Hydraulic on January 1, 2024.”

Once the remains have had their identities confirmed and their families have been notified, the SCSO says they will not provide any further information “due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.”
