More Heavy Storms Today, Lower Severe Threat for Acadiana

Another round of heavy scattered storms is expected this afternoon in Acadiana along with a threat for severe weather. A few light showers are possible this morning as conditions are warm and humid with highs in the low to mid 70s. Scattered rain becomes likely after 2:00 pm and could last through much of the evening hours.

The severe weather setup is less conducive for widespread damaging winds like we’ve dealt with in Acadiana on Monday and Thursday. A few storms this afternoon and evening are still capable of producing damaging winds, hail, and tornadoes. The ground is very saturated, any additional heavy rains could lead to localized flash flooding to occur quickly.

The weather pattern settles down this weekend with summer-like heat and humidity taking over.
