More than half Ky. adults have no dental insurance

More than half of Kentucky's adults report having no dental insurance

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Newly released poll results say more than half of Kentucky's residents report having no dental insurance.

And while 70 percent of adults in the U.S. say they have visited a dentist or dental clinic within the past year, that number is just 61 percent among Kentucky adults.

The Kentucky Health Issues Poll was funded by the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky and the Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati and conducted last fall by the Institute for Policy Research at the University of Cincinnati. A random sample of 1,680 adults from throughout Kentucky was interviewed by phone, and the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky says the poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.5 percent.
