More than a dozen stranded at sea rescued by world’s largest cruise ship

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The largest cruise ship in the world can add another accolade to its name after rescuing over a dozen people stranded at sea.

Passengers on the Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas posted a video online showing 14 people being brought aboard the ship after they were found floating aimlessly in the waters.

A follow-up post said the people had been stuck at sea for eight days.

“On March 3, 2024, Icon of the Seas encountered a small vessel adrift and in need of assistance,” the company said in a statement, according to the New York Post. “The ship’s crew immediately launched a rescue operation, safely bringing 14 people onboard. The crew provided them with medical attention, and is working closely with the US Coast Guard.”
