More than 600 volunteer during United Way's Day of Action in Tuscaloosa

The United Way’s Day of Action on May 10 brought together more than 600 volunteers who worked on 41 community service projects throughout Tuscaloosa County.

In a news release, the United Way of West Alabama said the Day of Action “... serves as a testament to the power of collective action and community spirit.”

The volunteers, divided into 46 teams representing different professions and organizations, joined forces “to contribute to the betterment of our local schools and nonprofits.”

The community service projects included sorting donations at Temporary Emergency Services, installing smoke alarms in homes through the American Red Cross, building a garden at Table of Grace Food Pantry and delivering meals for Meals on Wheels.

After working on the community service projects, volunteers gathered for a "thank-you" lunch at Capitol Park, with food donated by Dillard's Chophouse and T-Town Cafe and drinks provided by Buffalo Rock.
