More than 100 pounds of marijuana found by Virginia State Police during traffic stop

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (WVNS) — The Virginia State Police discovered 123 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop in Rockingham County on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.

45-year-old Jun Yan, of Fresh Meadows, New York, faces charges of possessing marijuana with intent to distribute, and transporting more than five pounds of marijuana in Virginia.

At 2:17 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, troopers with the Virginia State Police held a traffic stop on a 2024 Toyota Sienna at the 246 mile marker on Interstate 81 for speeding and tailgating.

Yan agreed to the troopers searching the car, and the troopers found 123 vacuum sealed packages of marijuana in boxes. The estimated street value of the 123 pounds of marijuana is more than $500,000.

Yan was taken to the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Regional Jail, and held without bond.
