Moped driver dies from Myrtle Beach area crash. It’s second moped driver to die in a week

A moped driver has died from their injuries two days after a Socastee area accident, according to Lance Cpl. Lena Butler with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

This is the second moped driver to die in an accident in a week.

The name of the person who was involved in the deadly crash on March 5 was not released. The driver was transported to the hospital where they died on March 7, according to Butler.

The accident occurred about 4:46 p.m. on S.C. 707 near Figure Eight Road.

The moped driver collided with a 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander carrying four people. None of the occupants were injured, Butler said.

On March 6, Lisa Gallow, 56, died from injuries she received in an accident involving her moped and another vehicle in Myrtle Beach. The accident happened on Kings Highway at 12th Avenue South.

The driver of the other vehicle was arrested by Myrtle Beach Police for failing to yield the right of way.
