MONROE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Monroe man was arrested Thursday following a fatal drug overdose in December, police say.

According to the Monroe Police Department, investigators determined following a search warrant that Corderius Jerome Allen provided illegal narcotics to a victim in December 2023. Allen was charged with death by distribution April 11.

Officers say Allen was also wanted by North Carolina Probation and Parole. He was served with those warrants at the same time. He is being held at the Union County Jail with a $1 million secured bond.

The death by distribution law gives district attorneys the ability to prosecute individuals who sell drugs that lead to an overdose death.
