TUPELO – Tupelo police have arrested an Amory woman who reportedly tried to steal more than $1,250 worth of merchandise from a Tupelo Walmart store three years ago.

Gina R. Smith, 36, of David Street, Amory, was arrested May 10 on a capias warrant for attempted felony shoplifting. Smith reportedly tried to leave the North Gloster Walmart in July 2021 with a buggy full of merchandise including plants, two hatchets, lounge pants, boys' underwear, socks, T-shirts, Levi's and Wrangler jeans, phone screen protectors, fishing filet knives, bait and numerous fishing lures.

Smith was held on a $5,000 bond that was issued by Lee County Circuit Court at the time the capias was issued. She has since bonded out of the Lee County Adult Jail.
