Monett man pleads guilty to double fatality DWI crash, gets nine years
MONETT, Mo. — A Monett man pleads guilty in a drunk driving crash that left two people dead last year.
Early Tuesday, Rafael Contreras-Maldonado, 20, pleaded guilty to DWI involving the deaths of two people. The judge immediately sentenced him to nine years in prison.

The crash happened in June of last year at the intersection of state Highway 37 and US 60.
A Lawrence County deputy was in a vehicle pursuit with Contreras-Maldonado when he ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle.
Larry Brock, 53, and Lydia Shorey, 61, both of Crane, Missouri were in that other vehicle and died in the crash.
