One mother is working to make “giant underpants” cool, and thousands of people are onboard.

Adrian Wood, who talks about her life, family, and faith on her blog “Tales of an Educated Debutante,” took to Facebook with an ode to her own undies. “You are wonderful and amazing and you rock those giant underpants,” Wood writes to herself. “I mean, you’ve earned wearing them. It’s not just that you’re over 40. Nope, you’ve given birth three times and number four was a c-section. Your body never has bounced back after that, though honestly, you’ve got bigger fish to fry than a smushy tummy.”

She ended the post with a photo of her own tummy-hugging “giant underpants,” letting fans know that her sweet words were directed just as much at herself as at any of her large-pantied followers.

Wood’s post has gone viral, with over 2,000 likes and hundreds of comments from women who can relate. “Maybe my favorite FB post of all time! Thank you!!!! After having 2 sons, the ex would complain that I didn’t walk around in my underwear. When the boys weren’t around and I did, he would complain that they were ugly granny panties. Your post ROCKS!!!!” wrote in Sharon Dawson Buchanan. “Thank you for your transparency and courage,” agreed Laura Taylor Brown. Other writers have tackled different aspects of motherhood — from stretch marks to breastfeeding — but Wood wants parents to love their hard-earned granny panties as much as any other part of #momlife.

“Body image has been a theme in my blog as I navigate the waters of mothering four children and my own journey of acceptance and acknowledgement,” Wood tells Yahoo Lifestyle.

For Wood, body acceptance is part of the challenge of motherhood. “We say it’s about health and we try to believe it is, but really, we want to look ‘good,’ and in or society, good is small. But then, I have these kids, three sons and a daughter and I don’t want them to waste time thinking about appearances or ascribing them words like good or bad. If I can’t embrace my self, big underpants and all, then what message am I sending them?” She considers her post a step along the journey to acceptance, even if it means accepting her granny panties.

“This just felt like a good time to tell women that we can put on our big girl pants and shout it from the rooftops,” said Wood. Judging by the comment section, it seems that plenty of women are proud to have their own drawers full of granny panties.

As Wood puts it, “Those giant underpants don’t define you.”
