Mom convicted of trying to kill daughter’s abuser

DECATUR, Georgia (WJW) – A mother has been convicted of killing a teenager in what prosecutors are calling a case of someone “trying to take the law into her own hands.”

A jury returned in a verdict in the case nearly 4 years after the case began.

According to a press release, Danyale Harris, 42, discovered a video of her 12-year-old daughter involved in a sexual act with a 22-year-old man.

Harris reported the incident to police on April 1, 2020.

However, police say hours after filing the report, Harris drove to an apartment to confront the man in the video.

Harris and three armed men opened fire at the man’s apartment, according to a press release.

The man suspected in the video was shot, as was a teenager who arrived at the apartment with Harris.

The teen was killed.

Harris was found guilty on charges of felony murder and aggravated assault.

According to a press release, Antonio Harley, 22, was charged with statutory rape, child molestation and sexual exploitation of children.
