SILVER SPRING, Md. (DC News Now) — Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center said it is adding 30 new patient beds by the end 2024 in order to meet the growing needs of the community.

“This is a significant move to enhance healthcare services in our region,” said Anthony Stahl, President of Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center. “Our hospital has been full for several years, so adding beds is really important for our communities.”

The additional beds at the facility, which opened in 2019, are intended to help address the demands for emergency and inpatient care. The expansion allows more efficient transitions from the emergency department to inpatient beds.

Part of a larger plan, the expansion also includes a new medical office building and an ambulatory surgical center for day surgeries.

“This will allow us to focus on a cancer program and dedicate specific beds to our cancer patients,” Stahl added. “We’re excited about the growth and the addition of more physicians to our ecosystem.”
