Due to a cold that has now fully circulated its way around my home, today we present a very special Tuesday edition of Mock Draft Monday. Trying to predict who the Miami Dolphins may select during the first round of the upcoming draft, this also means trying to project where they will possibly end up in the first round pecking order as well as where the team may need to add to their roster entering the 2017 campaign. For this series, I am projecting the Bills record to be between 8-8 and 10-6 with draft position between the late teens and the early 20’s.

It is also important to remember that these projections are basically educated guesses. With so much time still left till next season’s draft process most the players we cover could rise or fall in the rankings. While many believe that these rankings are sound, nothing is set in stone.

With all of that said, there is a possible massive departure looming for the Buffalo Bills in the form of Stephon Gilmore. With Gilmore already talking about a hold out, I see it is extremely unlikely for him and Bills to reach an extension if one is given to quarterback Tyrod Taylor. With that in mind, Michigan cornerback Jourdan Lewis could be a perfect fit for the impending hole in the Bills defense.

Jourdan Lewis — Michigan — Cornerback

Depending on the outcome of Stephon Gilmore’s contract negotiations will really alter this picks destiny. If they do manage to re-sign him then the Buffalo Bills will not be in need of a cornerback. However, should they fail to retain his services, the Bills could be staring down selecting a cornerback in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Though Jourdan Lewis is slightly smaller than the preferred NFL cornerback — standing at 5’10 — he does have the one-on-one ability that many look for in a future number one corner. Last season with Michigan, Lewis lead the nation with 15 passes defended while allowing only 36.7 percent of passes to be completed to men he was covering.

Coming back this season, Lewis will be one of many great cornerbacks in the 2017 draft class. Depending on needs and other corners declaring next April, Lewis just could be available when the Buffalo Bills get on the clock. While not as much of a ballhawk as say Vernon Hargreaves, the two players do compare favorably to one-another.

Should the Buffalo Bills be in need of a new number one cornerback, Lewis could be the just the man they are looking for. However, this will again be dependent of Stephon Gilmore’s negotiations. Either way though, I would say the Bills are going to have a quality player leading their secondary.
