Due to a cold that has now fully circulated its way around my home, today we present a very special Tuesday edition of Mock Draft Monday. Trying to predict who the Miami Dolphins may select during the first round of the upcoming draft, this also means trying to project where they will possibly end up in the first round pecking order as well as where the team may need to add to their roster entering the 2017 campaign. For this series, I am projecting the Dolphins record to be between 6-10 and 8-8 with draft position between the late top ten and the mid-teens.

It is also important to remember that these projections are basically educated guesses. With so much time still left till next season’s draft process most the players we cover could rise or fall in the rankings. While many believe that these rankings are sound, nothing is set in stone.

With all of that said, this week we will be turning our attention to the defensive side of the football to an area of the team that Miami Dolphins could use some help at come next spring. With the linebacker position possibly one of the most frail spots on the teams roster, Missouri stud Charles Harris could provide the team with some answers at the position.

Charles Harris — Missouri — Outside Linebacker

Becoming a starter for the Tigers last season, Charles Harris proved his worth not only to the rest of the SEC but also to the rest of the nation. The soon to be redshirt Junior led the SEC in tackles for loss (18.5) while also recording seven sacks. Add into his stat totals the 56 tackles and two forced fumbles he recorded and Harris is a bonafide stud in the making.

The current situation at linebacker for the Dolphins would almost certainty warrant this pick. Though the team added Kiko Alonso this past offseason his past health leaves many questions that need answering this season. The other three linebackers on the roster that could currently slide into a starting role are Jelani Jenkins, Koa Misi, and Zach Vigil.

Out of those three players, Jenkins is the only one I feel comfortable with as a starter. While Zach Vigil could develop into a good linebacking option, Koa Misi seems to be getting worse every year now and is more suited to being a pass rushing specialist in the Dolphins defense.

Where Charles Harris enters the conversation is now. Should Alonso fail to stay healthy this season and Misi again struggle, the Dolphins will be forced into action. With his top level ability that he showcased last season at the University of Missouri, Harris stock is certainly on the rise.

Currently projected by many as a mid-teens pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins could have some options when it comes to selecting him. If the Dolphins are picking in the top ten then there is some room for them to trade down. However, if they land in the higher end of my projection then this pick will be almost too perfect for them.
