Mobile man pleads guilty to sex abuse and robbery, receives sentence: court documents

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A Mobile man pleaded guilty on Tuesday to first-degree sex abuse and third-degree robbery, according to Mobile County Circuit Court documents.

Michael Joseph Anderson, 27, was in court for a 2020 incident in which he was accused of two counts of first-degree sodomy, one count of first-degree rape and second-degree robbery.

The state amended the first-degree rape charge to first-degree sex abuse and the second-degree robbery to third-degree robbery.

Anderson then waived the trial by jury and entered pleas of guilty to the first-degree sex abuse charge and the third-degree robbery charge.

Anderson then received his sentence, split into a one-year sentence in a jail-like facility.

His sentence will be followed by three years of probation.
