Mobile County Probate Court releases deadlines for absentee ballot application

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — The deadline to apply, in person, for absentee ballots in Mobile County for the upcoming Primary Runoff Election is Thursday, April 11, at 5 p.m., according to the Probate Court of Mobile County.

Absentee ballot applications for the runoff sent by mail or courier must be received at the Absentee Election Manager’s Office on or by Tuesday, April 9.

Voters can pick up absentee ballot applications at the Absentee Election Manager’s office in the Mobile County Government Center Annex on the 1st floor at 151 Government Street, Mobile, Alabama.

The absentee ballot applications are also available online at the Probate Court of Mobile County website and the Alabama Secretary of State’s website.

Alabama law prohibits multiple applications from being mailed in the same envelope.

Voters must return their completed ballots to the Absentee election Manager at the Mobile County Government Center Annex by 5 p.m. on April 15. If the ballot is mailed, it must be received by the Absentee Election Manager by noon on Tuesday, April 16, the day of the election.

Registered voters who require emergency treatment of a licensed physician within five days of an election can apply for a medical emergency absentee ballot. Those ballots must be returned no later than noon on election day.

An emergency ballot can be returned by a person designated by the voter, “and the attending physician must describe and certify the circumstances creating the emergency.”
