MLK fund Savor for Students event is Saturday

Apr. 17—The third annual Savor for Scholars heritage food fundraiser to benefit the Meadville Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Fund is Saturday at the Italian Civic Club, 869 Water St.

Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with food service beginning at 6 and the event concluding at 9.

This year's event features 10 tables of ethnic and international foods representing Italy, Germany, Ireland, Guatemala, India, Mexico, Poland, Puerto Rico and American Southern. There also will be a 50-50 raffle, a live auction and a large number of gift baskets as part of fundraising efforts, plus music by Fifty Miles to Empty.

Funds raised support MLK Scholarship Fund scholarships to Meadville Area Senior High (MASH) seniors. In 2023, the fund presented more than $8,000 in scholarships to three recipients.

Since its inception in 1968, the Meadville MLK Scholarship Fund has awarded more than $325,000 to more than 150 MASH students.

Tickets are $25 per person. They are available at the Woolen Mill, 257 Chestnut St., Meadville; online at mlkmeadville.org; or at the door.
