MLB Slugger David Ortiz Stars in ‘Big Papi Network’ on Verizon Go90

David Ortiz, the Boston Red Sox star hitter, is getting his own channel on Verizon’s Go90 mobile-video service.

Dubbed “The Big Papi Network” (what else?), the channel from IMG is executive produced in partnership with creator and star David Ortiz. It launched Thursday on Go90.

“The Big Papi Network” will feature 18 weeks of original short-form content, with new episodes becoming available each week. Every episode will follow Ortiz through all aspects of his life, incorporating his humor and unique perspective through interviews with notable celebrities from pro athletes to humanitarians and quick snapshots of his favorite things, from cars to movies.

Ortiz is a nine-time Major League Baseball All-Star and World Series MVP who’s established himself as one of the most prolific hitters of the last decade playing for the Red Sox. The Dominican-American slugger and his longtime marketing agent and manager, Alex Radetsky of Radegen Sports Management, will serve as executive producers of the network’s content under Ortiz’s newly-formed Big Papi Productions banner.

The “Big Papi Network” marks the first of nine “Superstar Networks” IMG and go90 plan to launch, each of which will feature weekly content presented, produced, and hosted by some of the biggest names in sports, modeling and music.

IMG’s first original production for go90, “#WLYG (We Love Your Genes),” documented the lives of 25 newly signed IMG models discovered through Instagram.
