Missouri Western holds annual homecoming parade

Oct. 8—Missouri Western State University kicked off the final day of its homecoming festivities on Saturday with its annual homecoming parade.

The parade, which ran the theme of "Blast from the Past," started at St. Joseph City Hall at 10 a.m., wrapping around Francis and Faraon streets and headed northeast on Frederick before moving around back to the capitol.

The event featured ten different high school bands, including Central and Benton, Albany, DeKalb, Fairfax, Nodaway-Holt, North Platte, Princeton, South Nodaway and Stewartsville.

The Golden Griffon Marching Band and members of Missouri Western's administration were also in attendance, including Missouri Western's President, Dr. Elizabeth Kennedy and Student Government Association President, Nathan Scott.

While the parade is over, fans can still catch the end of Missouri Western's celebrations as the Golden Griffons Football Team (2-3) squares off against the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers (4-1) starting at 4 p.m. tonight.
