Missouri State Fair cancels 2024 arena events due to construction of new arena

SEDALIA, Mo. — The director of the Missouri State Fair announced Thursday that all events typically held in the State Fair Arena will be canceled for 2024.

Organizers made the decision because of the construction of a new indoor facility that will take the place of the existing fairgrounds arena.

Missouri State Fair Director Jason Moore said he’s upset they won’t be able to host some events but is excited for the future of the fair.

“It saddens us that we won’t be able to host events like rodeo, bull riding, demolition derby, motocross, TT races and the antique, classic and garden tractor pulls,” Moore said.

“This project represents a significant investment in the Fair’s future, and we can’t wait to welcome these events and more back once construction is complete.”

According to a news release, the new complex will provide a space for a wide range of events year-round and during the annual state fair — from livestock shows to conferences, trade shows, community gatherings and more.

The Missouri State Fair is scheduled from Aug. 8-18 in Sedalia.
