Missouri gymnastics lost its associate head coach on Friday, when Casey Jo MacPherson was announced as the new head coach at the University of Pittsburgh. MacPherson spent the last 10 years on staff with the Tigers.

For the past three seasons she was MU’s associate head coach and the head beam coach.

"When we searched the country for a new leader of our women's gymnastics program, we found the perfect fit in Casey Jo MacPherson," Heather Lyke, Pitt’s athletic director said in a statement. "Her extraordinary competitive background, phenomenal coaching experience, dynamic and genuine personality, and desire to build Pitt Gymnastics into a nationally competitive program make her the ideal person to lead our team. We have great expectations for this program as we head into the first year of gymnastics in the ACC."

MacPherson began her Missouri career as an assistant before moving into the associate head coach role. She played a key role in helping the Tigers reach new heights as a program.

The top eight all-time MU gymnastics beam scores came under Macpherson. In 2023, her beam team ranked 10th nationally at the end of the regular season.

The Tigers broke the postseason team beam record and had the second-highest beam score in program history with a. 49.450 in the NCAA Tournament's second round.

"From my first conversation with Heather Lyke, it's been clear how committed she and her staff are to every sport and student-athlete at the University of Pittsburgh," MacPherson in the statement. "The passion and dedication throughout the athletic department create an energy that gets you excited about the future. Victory Heights is a state-of-the-art, game-changing facility that is only going to add to the momentum Pitt Athletics is seeing. I am so excited to connect with this talented team and begin building our championship program.”

Before coming to Missouri, MacPherson worked as an assistant at Western Michigan and Arkansas, where she had previously competed in gymnastics.
