Missing at-risk Oakland woman last seen in Mendocino County

(KRON) — A woman from Oakland was reported missing in Mendocino County, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday in a news release. Elizabeth Schenk was reported missing on Tuesday, May 21 around 4:47 p.m.

Schenk, 70, was last seen on the 31000 block of Bruhel Point Road in Fort Bragg. Authorities said Schenk was visiting the Northern California county from Oakland.

She is considered to be at risk due to her age and pre-existing medical conditions, MCSO said. Schenk was last seen wearing a white sweater, a white vest and white jeans when she left for a walk on Tuesday.

Schenk is described as a white woman who is 5-foot-5 and 150 pounds. She has graying brown hair and blue eyes.

MCSO received a call from a reporting party who said he received a call from Schenk around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday after Schenk went for a walk on a nearby logging road, the sheriff’s office said. Schnek was reportedly lost and called the man for directions.

Schenk described her surroundings to the man who gave Schenk directions. However, about an hour and a half later, Schenk didn’t return from her walk and didn’t answer her phone. The man then asked for neighbors’ help in finding the woman, which they didn’t after an hours-long search.

The male subject then reported Schenk’s disappearance to MCSO later that day around 4:47 p.m.

Anyone with information about Schenk’s location is asked to call MCSO at 707-463-4086.
