Missing Phelps County teen found in Kansas; man in custody

PHELPS COUNTY, Mo. – A missing Phelps County, Missouri, teenager has been found safe and a 20-year-old man is in custody.

The teenager had been missing since Monday evening. According to a report appearing in the Great Bend Post, Phelps County law enforcement notified police in Atchison, Kansas, about the missing 13-year-old.

Atchison police received word that the girl was in the area with a 20-year-old man.

Police located the man’s vehicle parked at a hotel. They claim the teenager and man, identified as Osias W. Everson, were inside the hotel. Everson was arrested at the hotel.

The Great Bend Post identified Everson as a resident of Deer Lodge, Montana; court documents from the Phelps County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office gave an address of Bothell, Washington.

Phelps County prosecutors charged Everson with one count of child kidnapping. His bond was set at $500,000. He remains in custody in Atchison County.
