Deputies checking out a report of an unoccupied vehicle found the body of missing Lawrence actor Cole Brings Plenty, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

Deputies responded about 11:45 a.m. Friday to the area of West 200th Street and Homestead Lane near Edgerton, Kansas, to check on the unoccupied there.

While there, deputies discovered a deceased person in a wooded area away from the vehicle. The person was identified as the 27-year-old actor missing since Sunday.

Lawrence police had asked for the public’s help after being unable to find Brings Plenty, who was wanted on charges relating to an alleged domestic violence incident.

Police used a drone team Thursday afternoon to search areas south of Lawrence in the hope of uncovering leads on Brings Plenty’s whereabouts, the department said in a news release.

Police were in close contact with the family, who were concerned and were collaborating with the MMIWG2ST Chapter of Lawrence, which stands for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, Two-Spirit, and Trans people.

Police responded early Sunday to reports of a female victim screaming for help at a Lawrence apartment. Brings Plenty, who police have identified as a suspect, fled before they arrived.

Because the incident involved allegations of domestic violence, police would not discuss details.

Traffic cameras showed Brings Plenty leaving Lawrence immediately after the incident, traveling south on U.S. 59 highway in a 2005 Ford Explore.

Brings Plenty’s family reported the actor as a missing person. Brings Plenty starred in “1923,” a spinoff of “Yellowstone,” which stars his uncle, Mo Brings Plenty.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said its investigations unit, crime scene investigators and the medical examiner were at the location where Cole Brings Plenty was found.

Anyone with information about his death was asked to call the sheriff’s office at 913-782-0720.
