Minivan crashes into dugout of baseball field at Woodstock park after kids accidentally shift van into drive

WOODSTOCK, Ill. — Three kids were hospitalized on Saturday morning after a minivan crashed into the dugout of a baseball field at a park in Woodstock.

According to Woodstock police, it all unfolded just before 9:45 a.m. at the Field of Dreams baseball field in Emricson Park.

Officers say they believe four kids were inside a Toyota Sienna minivan that was accidentally put into drive when one of the kids was trying to adjust the radio. Police say the vehicle then rolled down a nearby hill and crashed into the first base side of the concrete dugout.

Three of the four kids inside the minivan were taken to the hospital following the crash. One kid suffered a laceration to his leg and two others were transported as a precaution.

Authorities say none of the Hampshire baseball team players inside the dugout were injured and no citations were issued.

Police notified the parents of everyone involved and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
