'Minions' writer trolls Eric Trump with amusing tweet about his favorite toy


No matter what he tells his die-hard base, Donald J. Trump is not the most popular president in American history. Nor are his progeny very popular, with their dogged loyalty to their father that has helped make them targets of criticism as well — including, now, from a well-known Hollywood screenwriter, whose latest tweet takes one of the Trump boys to task for his less-than-adult tastes in playthings.

Minions screenwriter Brian Lynch — whose résumé also includes credits for Puss in Boots and The Secret Life of Pets — dragged Eric Trump on Twitter for a photo in which the president’s son is seen holding one of those famous gibberish-spouting yellow creatures alongside his infant son, Luke. As he makes clear, Lynch is nothing if not grateful to see his creation being enthusiastically enjoyed, even if he does hope that at some point Trump will allow his baby to also get some time with the stuffed little guy.

This isn’t the first time Lynch has let his feelings about the Trump family be known on social media, as evidenced by a handful of recent posts that take the commander in chief to task:
