Minerva Library picks Brenda Griffith as new director

Minerva Public Library has named Brenda A. Griffith as its next library director.

Griffith will succeed Tom Dillie, who is retiring after 15 years. Griffith will join Minerva Public Library on Sept. 5.

Griffith has worked as an educator and is a veteran politician in Stark County.

She served 10 years as elementary librarian for Osnaburg Local Schools, working with children in kindergarten through sixth grade, managing two library sites. Griffith also created the first school volunteer program for the library, with more than 130 volunteers.

She then served 25 years in higher education, joining Stark State College.

She earned a master’s of business administration, bachelor of science, associate in business, and an international certification as a certified fundraising executive.

Griffith is in her 10th year as an elected Osnaburg Township trustee, and has owned D. Griffith & Sons Inc. since 2000.

In her spare time, Griffith is a member and past president of East Canton Rotary, Toastmasters and Helping Osnaburg Prosper Economically. She is also a member of the Strengthening Stark Governance Committee, Women’s Impact, Ohio Farm Bureau, Stark County Township Association, State of Ohio Township Association, Association of Fundraising Professionals, and appointed by the State of Ohio to the Ohio Natural Resource Assistance Council District 19 Committee.

Griffith and her husband, Dennis, farm 130 acres in Waynesburg. They have two rescue dogs, four married children and several grandchildren.
