Mineral County man arrested in alleged Interstate 68 driver assault

Mar. 4—CUMBERLAND — A Keyser, West Virginia, man was arrested late Friday for allegedly assaulting the driver of a vehicle that he was riding with on interstate 68 westbound in the area of the 42-mile marker, according to Cumberland Police.

The female driver suffered visible injuries in the alleged attack that occurred when Baron Avery Fraser allegedly began striking her in the face with a closed fist as he sat in the front seat of the vehicle.

Fraser, 56, was ordered confined without bail at the Allegany County Detention Center, pending his initial appearance before a district court judge.

The arrest was made without incident at about 11:15 p.m. when city police officers responded to a "assault in progress" call in the westbound lanes of I-68.

Fraser was also served an arrest warrant issued Feb. 24 by district court for two counts of stalking and a threat of mass violence, according to court documents.

The warrant by Maryland State Police for alleged crimes that occurred in Allegany County from Feb. 14 to 16.
