Milwaukee man sentenced to 7 years in hit-and-run crash that critically injured a Greenfield teen

A Milwaukee man will serve a seven-year sentence for critically injuring a 16-year-old Greenfield boy in a hit-and-run crash.

Walter Grebe, 34, was sentenced Thursday in Milwaukee County Circuit Court to three years in prison and four years extended supervision, according to online records.

As part of a plea agreement, Grebe, formerly of Muskego, pleaded no contest to a felony charge of hit and run involving great bodily harm Dec. 16.

Trevor Le-Morrison, now a senior at Greenfield High School, was injured in the crash May 21, 2022, on West Loomis Road near West Edgerton Avenue.

The varsity soccer player spent nearly three months in hospital recovering from numerous injuries, including two broken femurs, a broken collarbone, fractured vertebrae and brain bleeding.

Le-Morrison came home from the hospital Aug. 11.

According to the criminal complaint, on the night of the crash, a large group of teens were in the area having a water gun fight and Le-Morrison was being chased by someone with a water gun.

Le-Morrison ran into the roadway, did not see a vehicle traveling eastbound on West Loomis Road and was struck.

Grebe, who was driving the SUV that hit Le-Morrison, did not stop and continued driving eastbound on Loomis Road, the complaint said.

Among the conditions of Grebe's extended supervision, Grebe will have his driving privileges revoked for 24 months and must perform 100 hours of community service.

Le-Morrison’s mother, Oanh Le, said friends and community members have supported her son’s recovery by hosting fundraising events and donating money for medical bills. Le-Morrison’s soccer coach, Peter Knebel, started a GoFundMe fundraiser, which has raised more than $40,000.
