Milroy man arrested for possession of child pornography

Apr. 26—RUSH COUNTY — Members of Indiana's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force served a search warrant Thursday morning following a lengthy investigation involving a Milroy resident and the possession of child pornography.

Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Childen Unit, forensic examiners from the ISP Digital Forensics Unit, Troopers from the Indiana State Police Pendleton District, and Connersville Police Department executed the search warrant at 596 W. Ind. 244, Milroy.

According to a news release provided by the Indiana State Police, the Internet Crime Against Children Task Force initiated the investigation in December 2023 after receiving cybertips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

During the four-month investigation, the task force identified the suspect as Mark Richard Victor Herbert, 24, of Milroy. The Task Force also used Titus, a digital device sniffing K-9, to assist with locating electronic devices during the search warrant.

Herbert was arrested and transported to the Rush County Jail, where he was preliminarily charged with possession of child pornography, Level 5 felony.

The Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is a multi-agency task force that investigates and prosecutes persons who use the internet to sexually exploit or entice children. The Indiana State Police oversees the task force.
