Milos Raonic to lead Canadian side in next month's Davis Cup tie against Spain

TORONTO - Milos Raonic will lead the four-man Canadian squad in Davis Cup play next month against Spain.

The 15th-ranked singles player is coming off a fourth-round loss to Roger Federer at the Australian Open.

Raonic, from Thornhill, Ont., will be joined by Frank Dancevic of Niagara Falls, Ont., Vasek Pospisil of Vancouver and doubles specialist Daniel Nestor of Toronto on the Canadian team.

The World Group first-round tie is scheduled for Feb. 1-3 on the indoor hardcourt at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre in Vancouver.

World No. 11 Nicolas Almagro leads the top-ranked Spanish team, which includes Albert Ramos, Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez.

The winner of the tie will move on to the World Group quarter-finals while the loser must play a World Group playoff tie to keep its spot in the elite level for 2014.
