Milo Yiannopoulos Responds to Backlash: ‘I Am a Gay Man, and a Child Abuse Victim’

Soon after Milo Yiannopoulos was disinvited from speaking at this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Monday, the Breitbart editor and face of the alt-right movement backpedaled on his comments about pedophilia that sparked outrage over the weekend.

“I am a gay man, and a child abuse victim,” Yiannopoulos wrote on his Facebook page Monday. “I would like to restate my utter disgust at adults who sexually abuse minors.”

Yiannopoulos went on to say that he was “horrified by pedophilia,” adding that he’s “outed three of them, in fact — three more than most of my critics.”

Newly-resurfaced video, in which Yiannopoulos can be heard saying that some relationships between adults and 13-year-olds are consensual, kicked up a Twitter firestorm on Sunday. In the video, Yiannopoulos joked about being molested when he was younger, saying it made him good at oral sex.

“I’m partly to blame,” he wrote in his Monday post. “My own experiences as a victim led me to believe I could say anything I wanted to on this subject, no matter how outrageous.”

Yiannopoulos noted that he does “not believe sex with 13-year-olds is okay. When I mentioned the number 13, I was talking about the age I lost my own virginity.”
