Military officials name the hottest point on the front in eastern Ukraine

In eastern Ukraine, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Novopavlivka remain the hottest sectors, but the Armed Forces have the situation well in hand, said Nazar Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Khortytsia Operational and Strategic Grouping of Troops, on national television on May 2.
According to him, heavy fighting continues in the east. Russian invasion forces are unceasing in their efforts to break through the front line using artillery, tanks, drones, and aviation.
Currently, "the situation is dynamically changing," Voloshyn added.
"The enemy's goal is to reach the administrative borders of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts," he said.

He added that the Armed Forces managed to improve their tactical position in the Serebryanskyi Forest sector. The enemy is conducting inactive assault operations in the Kupyansk and Lyman sectors.
The situation on the Eastern front
Russian forces managed to gain a foothold in the Ocheretyne sector of Donetsk Oblast, Voloshyn said on April 27.
In order to achieve success in this direction, the occupiers used four brigades.

The situation at the front had worsened, Ukrainian Armed Forces Chief, Oleksandr Syrskyi, confirmed on April 28. Ukrainian units withdrew to the west from the villages of Berdychi, Semenivka and Novomykhailivka.
During April 30, for the first time in several days, Russian troops did not make any confirmed advances in the Avdiivka sector, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) noted on May 1.
The Russian invaders will not be able to capture Chasiv Yar in Donetsk Oblast by May 9, as planned, the head of the 26th Artillery Brigade’s press service Oleh Kalashnikov, stated on May 2.
