Military families honor the fallen at Veterans Memorial Park
TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Several military families plan on attending the Hillsborough County 27th Annual Memorial Day Observance Service at Veterans Memorial Park in Tampa on Sunday.
There, they will honor their loved ones who died serving our country.
The community is invited to join them for this special ceremony beginning at 10 a.m.
Expect to hear from officials at MacDill Airforce Base, Hillsborough County Commissioners, and other community leaders.
JROTC will be a part of the ceremony where you could also see the traditional rifle salute and hear a playing of taps.
There will be special tributes as well, including a presentation from American Gold Star Mothers like Veteran Annette Kirk who lost her son in the line of duty, and several of her friends.
“It takes one minute to just think about that- think about those men and women that have served and have died for our freedom,” Kirk said. “That’s it. It’s simple.”
