Military Appreciation Night at the rodeo

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Tonight, the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo honors military members with Military Appreciation Night, shining a spotlight on their service and sacrifice. Among those dedicated to supporting veterans is Zach Peterson, a native of San Angelo and a crucial figure at the Texas Veterans Commision. With unwavering commitment, Peterson has assisted numerous veterans across 13 counties, bridging the gap between them and potential employers as a Rural Veterans Career Adviser.

Having served in the Army infantry for four years, including combat tours in Afghanistan and Africa with the Texas National Guard, Peterson intimately understands the challenges veterans face upon returning home. Reflecting on his own journey, Peterson shared, “As far as when I got out, it was really hard to find where to fit in, you lose your community and people so coming back to the veteran’s community and actually doing this work is really hard to express but at the end of the day is rewarding and i have that sense of brotherhood and sisterhood back.”

In his role at the Concho Valley Workforce, Peterson serves as a dedicated case manager, offering invaluable support to veterans navigating the job market. From refining resumes to honing interview skills, Peterson works tirelessly to ensure veterans have the tools and resources they need to thrive in civilian life. His dedication embodies the spirit of service and camaraderie that defines the veteran community, enriching the lives of those he assists and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood.
