CAIRO (AP) — An Egyptian security official says militants fire a rocket-propelled grenade at an army bus in the Sinai Peninsula, killing two soldiers.
The official said the Sunday ambush in the center of the lawless desert region wounded another 11 soldiers. He spoke anonymously as he was not authorized to talk to media.
The ambush came as an al-Qaida-inspired group based in the Sinai claimed responsibility for bringing down an Egyptian military helicopter.
A military spokesman said the aircraft crashed Saturday, without giving a cause or the number of the crew.
