Miley Cyrus dropped her new single, "Wrecking Ball," on Saturday night, along with the Miami Vice-style cover art for her forthcoming album, Bangerz. Starting with a spare keyboard rhythm before Cyrus' anguished vocals take off soaring above it, the new ballad offers a heartbroken counterpoint to the hedonism of Bangerz's lead single, "We Can't Stop."
The new song and artwork come along just as Cyrus is set to perform at tonight's MTV Video Music Awards, where she is nominated in the Best Song of the Summer category for "We Can't Stop." "Wrecking Ball" is currently available for purchase on iTunes, and Bangerz is due out on October 8th.
