Mikaela Shiffrin’s historic quest for gold will have to wait at least another day.

Monday’s women’s giant slalom event was postponed in PyeongChang due to dangerous winds that have reached 40-45 MPH. It’s the second straight day that conditions have interrupted the schedule; Sunday’s men’s downhill was postponed until Thursday.

The makeup date for the women’s giant slalom will be Thursday.

The giant slalom is not Shiffrin’s best event, but the American superstar won two World Cup giant slalom events this season and may enter all five disciplines in PyeongChang. The giant slalom was expected to be her first try at adding a second medal to the gold she won in slalom in Sochi at age 18.

The next two scheduled events on the mountain are Tuesday’s men’s alpine combined and Wednesday’s women’s slalom.

Provided Mother Nature allows those events to go off, of course.
