‘Midnight, Texas’: What Will Happen In Season 1 Finale?

The Midnighters head back to their town to save Fiji in the Season 1 finale of “Midnight, Texas.”

According to the synopsis for Season 1, episode 10 of the NBC series, Manfred (François Arnaud) leads his fellow Midnighters to take back their home from the evil forces while hell is literally about to erupt onto Witch Light Road and Fiji (Parisa Fitz-Henley) is about to be claimed by Colcannar.

As Bobo (Dylan Bruce) turns his attention to saving Fiji, Olivia (Arielle Kebbel) and Creek (Sarah Ramos) confront the wraiths. Manfred, meanwhile, focuses on killing the demon and closing the veil to hell with the help of Lem (Peter Mensah), Joe (Jason Lewis) and the Rev (Yul Vazquez).

In the trailer for the episode, Bobo, Olivia and Creek are reunited with Fiji. While Fiji seems safe, Olivia appears to have wounded while fighting off the wraiths. Although Bobo is seen carrying Olivia to safety, the severity of her injury remains unclear.

Unfortunately, Manfred also finds himself in serious trouble when he finally gets to confront Colcannar. “This is over,” Colcannar tells Manfred at the end of the trailer as the psychic is about to fell on the ground.

It’s unclear how Manfred plans to defeat Colcannar and seal the veil, but the episode logline reveals that Xylda’s (Joanne Camp) grandson will be risking his life by asking for help from an unlikely source.

Speaking of Xylda, Arnaud recently opened up about the death of Manfred’s grandmother during an interview with SYFY WIRE. “I found out when I read episode 8, and I was, to tell you the truth, heartbroken,” the actor said of his reaction when he found out about the character’s demise. “I gave a call to the showrunner and I was like, ‘Are you sure this is the right thing to do?’ Manny and Xylda have the seminal relationship at the core of the show.”

But Arnaud admitted that Xylda’s death was somehow necessary. “First, for Manfred to finally own up on his potential and his role as a savior of Midnight, and potentially the world, he had to part from something that ultimately tied him down or was too comforting,” the actor explained. “That he was sort of using it as a crutch, his relationship to Xylda, and I think him finally being on his own and having that goodbye moment with Xylda sort of allowed him to soar finally. Also, I think I feel like in this day and age of television, post ‘Game of Thrones,’ the audience needs to feel like no one is safe, no matter how beloved.”

“Midnight, Texas” Season 1 finale airs on Monday, Sept. 18, at 10 p.m. EDT on NBC.
